What we are looking for…..

Are you an experienced Flexo 1st Pressman? As a key member of the Press department, this position will set up and operate our Flexographic Printing Presses to print designs and/or lettering on rolls of flexible plastic film. Safety and quality are our passion and commitment to our clients!

What you’ll be doing…

Responsible for running the press at the targeted production rate while maintaining quality.

Responsible for running re-winder and pulling rolls off of the press.

Responsible for handling of plant equipment and supplies by himself, the schedule B Pressman and others on the press.

Responsible to check the print quality against all specifications on every roll. Adjusts color in the press if needed.

Assists in training press apprentices following all established training procedures.

Work as a team with B Pressman within the restrictions and capabilities.

Responsible for achieving targeted set up times and keeping roll changes to a minimum.

Responsible for changeovers on press while following set up procedures.

Monitor entire web through scanner every 5 minutes.

Responsible for first sign in on set-ups.

Responsible for maintaining, labeling and handling of hazardous waste.

All finished orders will be checked against Extrusion paperwork to ensure all film is accounted for, printed and labeled correctly for example ahead of slitter, converting or outside sales.

Communicate with 2nd Pressman and inspect all items for next set-up, ie. cylinders geared, film and ink behind machine.

Responsible for checking in all paperwork for next set up, i.e., spec, layout and paper proof.

Other duties within the scope of the position.

What you’ll need…

High School Diploma or equivalent.

3 years’ experience on flexo, offset to Gravure printing press; flexographic wide web strongly preferred.

Ability to read and interpret work orders, proofs and spec sheets.

Ability to effectively communicate with fellow employees.

Strong verbal and written English communication skills.

A drive to succeed.

A can-do attitude.

A self-starter approach. 

Our work environment & the physical demands of this position…

Physical working area is multi- shift, high speed packaging operations which may be noisy and very warm (or very cold). Must be able to access any area inside, outside and around facility including may need to ascend/descend stairways, narrow passageways and layout of expansive operations to access production equipment which may be located at any level inside and/or outside the building. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must be able to work safely around machinery and chemicals, read and follow equipment manufacturers’ specifications.
